Wolfe Thunderbolt eGPU hits Kickstarter

eGPU designed for MacBooks and other notebooks

Kickstarter is full of neat products but one that caught the attention lately is a Thunderbolt-based external GPU enclosure, designed to provide a bit more graphics power to Macbooks and other Thunderbolt-equipped notebooks, the Wolfe Thunderbolt GPU enclosure.

The project has already reached its US $50,000 funding target and will be available in three different versions, DIY, Wolfe and Wolfe Pro. It features three DisplayPort, one HDMI and Thunderbolt I/O and comes with a 220W mobile PSU.

Built from molded PC-ABS plastic, the Wolfe will be compatible with Thunderbolt 3 devices, although there is a Thunderbolt 2.0 version, which will be exclusively available during Kickstarter campaign.

The DIY version, priced at US $269, will, obviously, come without a GPU while the standard Wolfe version will be equipped with Geforce GTX 950 and priced at US $449. The Wolfe Pro version will pack the Geforce GTX 970 GPU and will be priced at US $599.

It is still not clear if the Wolfe supports AMD Radeon GPUs, but we do not see why it should not and there are no precise details regarding the GPU support as the 220W PSU should be enough even to power a GTX 1080, as long as it can fit inside it.

Currently, Wolfe should ship in February 2017 and you can check out more details over at the Wolfe Kickstarter page via link below.
