A previously reported high power draw from the PCI-Express slot of the Radeon RX 480 is still causing problems for AMD as the graphics card is not on the PCI-SIG Integrator List.
The PCI-SIG Integrator List is a list of hardware devices that follow PCI-Express specification and used by system integrators to pick the best possible hardware for their systems. Unfortunately, since it draws more than 75W from the PCIe slot, the RX 480 is not on that list.
Although this does not affect AMD AIB partners, it means that the RX 480 does not have the PCIe certification logo and it also means that system integrators might not use it for their systems. While this might not sound like a big issue, bear in mind that the system integrator market is still quite important for manufacturers as plenty of people still prefer to buy the complete system rather than assemble it.
AMD already released a software fix that fixes the issue and some AIB partners have come up with RX 480 graphics card versions with an 8-pin PCIe power connector, fixing the issue on the hardware level so some might still appear in various systems.
Hopefully, this does not mean that AMD will take a big hit from it but it is still a big issue.
