Microsoft has started rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary update. Meanwhile the latest operating system from the company with its headquarters in Redmond, has been around since one year and nowadays Microsoft is ending the free upgrade offer.
Looking at version numbers the latest update is numbered 1607 build 14393. Apart from that it's a rather chunky piece of software weighing several gigabyte. Basically the update is so large you're automatically downloading and installing a new Windows 10.
With their Windows 10 Anniversary Update Microsoft is adding a number of applications and features. There is for example so called Windows Ink, which is a notes app optimized for the use with a stylus. Changes have also been made to Cortana - the voice assistant - which can now be accessed directly from the lock-screen. On top of that Cortana has also been integrated into more applications. Microsoft also worked on Hello, which is the operating systems biometric ID system and it now also works with several thrid-party apps like for instance Dropbox. A constant construction site, that's what Windows Defender and the anti malware tool can be called and the software giant also claims to have further optimezed energy efficiency allowing for lower power consumption in the case of notebooks.
