Nvidia GTX 1080 4-way SLI back with Time Spy

Works well in 3DMark Time Spy benchmark

It appears that the latest Nvidia drivers have brought back the 4-way support for the Geforce GTX 1080 SLI and all thanks to Futuremark's latest 3DMark Time Spy DirectX 12 benchmark.

As you already know, Nvidia has decided to focus on 2-way SLI and its new High Bandwidth SLI (HB SLI) bridges with Geforce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics card.

Although there was no official support for it, Nvidia did say that 3-way/4-way SLI will work in certain games and synthetic benchmarks so it appears that it is now back with Futuremark's 3DMark Time Spy benchmark.

The 4-way GTX 1080 SLI is expected to hit well over 20k score in Time Spy and since we are currently in process of testing some GTX 1080 graphics cards, stay tuned for some results as we will hopefully have those ready soon.

It is not clear if Nvidia will bring back 3-way/4-way SLI or is it still only limited to benchmarks and some games but with DirectX 12 support, 4K/UHD resolution and VR gaming becoming more and more popular, 4-way SLI might be needed in some cases so hopefully Nvidia will reconsider its decision.
