With so many leaks and pre-orders of the upcoming Intel Broadwell-E CPUs, it was just a matter of time before we have a chance to see a couple of early reviews and today we have some of the first results of the flagship Core i7-6950X.

After the initial benchmarks of the Core i7-6850K which we saw earlier, it appears that Overclock.net managed to get their hands on the flagship Core i7-6950X as well.

This 14nm flagship Broadwell-E CPU packs a total of 10 cores and with support for Intel Hyper Threading, it comes 20 threads. The base clock is set at 3.0GHz while the Boost reaches 3.5GHz. It also comes with 25MB of L3 cache and has the same 140W TDP as the entire Broadwell-E lineup.

SiliconLottery user from Overclock.net first brought us a couple of tests of the eight-core Core i7-6850K, which should replace the Core i7-5820K, showing a performance boost of around 10 percent. These first pictures and test also showed lower temperatures, lower power consumption but also a much thinner PCB, suggesting that we might see a "bend-gate" once again.

Today, he also tested the ten-core flagship Core i7-6950X and compared it to the earlier available Core i7-5960X. Even at stock clocks, the performance gain is quite impressive. All tests were done with Corsair's H105 cooler and the CPU did not go over 80C in Cinebench and 4.5GHz clock speed.

In Cinebench R15, the overclocked Core i7-6950X managed to get 2327 points at 4.5GHz and 1904 at 4.0GHz, which is about 20 percent higher score compared to the Core i7-5960X running at the same clock. The new Core i7-6950X will also bring significantly higher memory write performance as was noticed in AIDA64 memory tests.
