AMD R9 480 (non-X) performance close to R9 390X

Cut-down version of the Ellesmere GPU

While earlier rumors suggest that the performance of the fully-enabled Polaris 10 GPU could end up close to the Radeon Fury X, the new report suggest that R9 480 (non-X) could offer performance of the R9 390X at half of the power.

While the fully-enabled 14nm Polaris 10 Ellesmere GPU could give Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 Ti a run for its money, the cut-down version of the GPU, according to an early GFXBench run, could offer performance close to the Radeon R9 390X, at half the power draw, which is really impressive.

The Radeon R9 480 should replace the US $200 priced R9 380 but offer significant performance boost and, thanks to the 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, be much more power efficient.

The fully-enabled Polaris 10 Ellesmere GPU, which should be a part of AMD's new Radeon R9 490 series, should pack up to 2560 Stream Processors and end up with a TDP of up to 175W.

AMD is expected to unveil more details during Computex 2016 show which kicks off on May 31st so we will probably hear even more leaks and rumors as we draw closer to the announcement day.
