Nvidia stops production of some Maxwell GPUs

Making room for upcoming Pascal-based graphics cards

According to the latest report, Nvidia has allegedly stopped the production of some Maxwell GPUs and graphics cards in order to make some room for the upcoming Pascal-based graphics cards.

According to a recent report from Hardware Battle site, Nvidia has ceased the production of the GM204 GPU, which is behind both the Geforce GTX 980 and the GTX 970 as well as the GM200 GPU, heart of the GTX 980 Ti.

There will still be plenty of those graphics cards to buy as the stock appears quite healthy but it also can be a sign that Nvidia is clearing stock in order to make room for upcoming Pascal-based graphics cards.

According to earlier reports, Nvidia plans to introduced at least three new graphics cards based on the new GP104 Pascal GPU in June 2016.
