Futuremark has released an updated for 3DMark benchmark suite which adds a preview for the upcoming VRMark benchmark as well as both a new user interface, few improvements and an ability to pick specific benchmarks that you want to update.
The new VRMark benchmark is just a preview of the upcoming benchmark and is only available on 3DMark Advanced and 3DMark Professional versions so those with Basic Edition or the Steam demo version will not be able to like it. It includes two test scenes from VRMark and is meant to test virtual reality headsets and the performance of the system in VR.
In addition to the preview of the upcoming VRMark, the new 3DMark v2.0.1979 features a completely new user interface (UI) that has been redesigned and rebuilt in order to be faster and more flexible. It also includes a new home screen which recommends the best test for your PC based on system specifications.
The new 3DMark also brings an ability to update each benchmark test independently and also adds both the Ice Storm Extreme and Ice Storm Unlimited benchmarks to the 3DMark Basic Edition version. The new 3DMark also updates the SystemInfo module to v4.43 which should improve hardware detection.
According to the release notes, the new 3DMark version also fixes issues with AMD driver where the preview videos in the UI caused some AMD graphics card to use low-power mode.
Futuremark also noted that the Time Spy DirectX 12 benchmark is coming soon.
As always, the new 3DMark update can be downloaded directly from
Futuremark's 3DMark website.
