Plextor has announced a successor to its value-oriented M6V series solid-state drives, the new M7V SSD lineup which will be available in both 2.5-inch and M.2 form-factors, with SATA 6Gbps interface, and based on Marvel controller paired up with Toshiba NAND.
To be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities, the new Plextor M7V series value-series of SSDs will be based on Marvell's 88SS1074B1 controller paired up with Toshiba's 15nm TLC NAND.
These specifications, in combination with 256MB, 512MB or 768MB of DDR3 cache, will offer sequential read and write performance of up to 560MB/s for read and up to 530MB/s for write (500MB/s on the 128GB version).
The random read and write performance reaches up to 98,000 IOPS for read and up to 84,000 IOPS for write (97K and 51K on the 128GB version).
In order to cope with the drawbacks of TLC NAND, Plextor has included the PlexTurbo 3.0 and Plex Nitro features. The PlexTurbo 3.0 uses system RAM to accelerate storage performance while PlexNitro optimizes performance in SLC mode without taking up SSD space.
All versions of the Plextor M7V are rated at 1.5 million hours MTBF, have an endurance rating of 80, 160 and 320 TBW and are backed by a three-year warranty.
Unfortunately, Plextor did not unveil any details regarding the price.
