A leaked slide shows that Intel's Xeon Broadwell-EP CPUs could actually launch by end of this month as the Xeon E5-2600 V4 series.

According to a slide spotted at Anandtech Forums, Intel's Xeon workstation CPUs based on Broadwell architecture could actually launch by end of this month. Based on 14nm manufacturing process, Broadwell-EP will launch as Xeon E5-2600 V4 series CPUs.

The Xeon Broadwell-EP chips have been spotted earlier and some earlier reports also suggested a 5.1GHz clocked Xeon E5-2602 V5, a 20-core Xeon E5-2698 V5 with 40 threads and some versions with up to 22-cores and 44 threads.

The Xeon Broadwell-EP lineup was already expected this quarter while some high-end parts are expected in the second quarter 2016. The Xeon Broadwell-EP CPUs will be compatible with Grantley platform, same one that has been used for Ivy Bridge-EP and Haswell-EP CPUs.

The rest of the features include up to 55MB of L3 cache, support for up to 40 PCI-Express lanes, support for quad-channel DDR4-2400 memory and TDP ranging from 55 to 145W.

According to the leaked slide, the Broadwell-EP should bring, on average, 18 percent more performance compared to the Haswell-EP chips.

The desktop/consumer version of the Broadwell-EP known as the Broadwell-E, was earlier reported as to be delayed to the end of second quarter, despite the fact that the silicon is identical.
