AMD 8-core Zen CPU could launch in October

With 95W TDP

According to the latest report, it appears that AMD's first 8-core Zen CPU could launch as early as October.

According to a report from Wccftech.com, citing sources close to AMD, the first Zen-based Summit Ridge CPU will be an eight-core CPU with a TDP of 95W. The CPU is already taped out and currently validated and should launch in October. The report also suggest that Zen-based 8-core FX-series CPU will have an extremely competitive single-threaded performance.

AMD also has several other Zen-based SoCs in development including a 32-core Zen-based server CPU, a sixteen core Zen HPC APU and a quad-core Zen-based consumer APU, all coming later this year.

As these are unofficial information, your should take it with a grain of salt, as currently, AMD has officially said that the first Zen-based CPUs will be coming in late 2016, which lines up with October launch.

Inb case you missed it earlier, AMD plans to unify its upcoming Bristol Ridge APU and Summit Ridge CPU lineup on one platform, the AM4. The new platform will bring support for new APUs/CPUs as well as support for DDR4 memory.

Hopefully, AMD will soon reveal a bit more official details regarding its Zen launch schedule.
