Thecus announces new N12850 and N16850 NAS servers

12- and 16-bay NAS based on Intel Haswell Xeon

Thecus Technology has announced two new network-attached storage (NAS) systems that will be a part of its enterprise-class lineup, the 12- and 16-bay N12850 and N16850 NAS servers.

Both of the new NAS systems are equipped with Intel Haswell Xeon CPU and 16GB of DDR3 ECC RAM as well as offer support for both 12Gbps SAS and 6Gbps SATA HDDs. Both the 12-bay N12850 and the 16-bay N16850 NAS systems are also 10GbE ready and support High Availability for system redundancy.

The also use Daisy Chaining technology which offers connections to four additional D16000 units, allowing the storage capacity to be expanded to up to 640TB.

Both new enterprise-class NAS units from Thecus also support AES-NI hardware encryption engine, have redundant power supply, hot swappable HDDS, support RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and JBOD and come with four USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 and single VGA port. Both units also offer new features in an intuitive user interface, including Virtualization, Volume encryption, Free Intel Security, Thecus App Center and User Profile.

Aimed at large businesses the new Thecus N12850 and N16850 NAS systems should be available in April. Unfortunately, Thecus did not reveal any information regarding the price.
