Coming with RGB LEDs and premium features

While we had a chance to pretty much check out ASUS' entire Republic of Gamers Maximus VIII series lineup, including the flagship Maximus VIII Extreme and the smaller Maximus VIII Impact, there was one motherboard missing from the list, the Maximus VIII Formula. Today, we have a chance to check out some of the first pictures as well as some details, including premium features and RGB LED illumination.

While ASUS was previously sticking to red on black color scheme, modders and the rest should be pleased to know that ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Maximus VIII Formula will have RGB LED lighting, which will allow users to pick plenty of colors, including red, orange, yellow, green, blue or pink, and pair it up with their system.

As it was the case with previous ASUS ROG Maximus Formula series motherboard, the new Maximus VIII Formula, which is based on Intel's Z170 Express chipset, will also be aimed at liquid cooling lovers, with an ability to liquid cool the VRM part of the motherboard.

The rest of the specifications, although we can't see much from the PCB shield covering the motherboard, appear to include pretty much anything you would expect from a high-end Z170-based motherboard including plenty of SATA 6Gbps ports, two SATA-Express ports, U.2 port and more.

It has four DDR4 DIMM slots next to the LGA 1151 CPU socket and comes with three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots and three PCI-Express x1 slots as well as on board buttons, a couple of USB 3.1, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, high-end audio and integrated WiFi and Bluetooth and single Gigabit Ethernet.

We still do not have full specifications as we are only looking at a couple of pictures posted by Overclock3D.net site, but it appears that ASUS has teamed up with EK Water Blocks as you can spot their logo, which suggest it comes with a high-end liquid cooling system for the VRM part of the motherboard.

Unfortunately, we also still do not have any details regarding the launch date or the price but expect it to launch soon with a price set at around €350.
