Crucial launches BX200 series SSDs

Successor of the popular BX100 series

Crucial has announced its latest affordable solid-state drive series, the new BX200 series SSDs which should offer decent performance boost at rather affordable price per gigabyte.

While the Crucial BX100 was a favorite pick of those looking for an SSD on a budget, it does not come as a surprise that the new BX200 SSD series successor is an interesting addition. To be available in 240, 480 and 960GB versions, the new Crucial BX200 series SSDs are based on 16nm TLC NAND chips paired up with Silicon Motion SM2256 controller.

It will offer sequential read and write performance of up to 540MB/s and 490MB/s for all models while random 4K read and write performance will range at up to 66K and 78K IOPS.

Thanks to the 16nm TLC NAND, Crucial BX200 series SDDs have impressive price per gigabyte, starting at $0.35 for the US $84.99 price 240GB version, $0.31 for both the US $149.99 priced 480GB version and US $299.99 priced 960GB version.

The entire lineup will be backed by a three year warranty and it is currently available at Crucial's own online store so we expect them on worldwide retail/e-tail shelves soon.
