It appears that Sony has managed to extend its lead in Playstation 4 sales as according to the latest report, it managed to sell well over 25 million units.
In an interview with Games Industry Biz site, Sony's exec, Michael Denny, said that the install base is well over 25 million, which gives them a massive community of gamers, supported by a lot of new features. He also said that the company is looking forward to 2016 as it is an exciting time.
In a recent report from VG Chartz, Sony sold 25.45 million Playstation 4 units worldwide but recent sony move to bump its fiscal year PS4 projections from 16 to 16.5 million sold units also show that this number might be even higher.
Few days ago, Sony has dropped the price of the Playstation 4 worldwide and this will certainly drive the sale numbers during the holiday season. Microsoft has stopped reporting the number of sold Xbox One consoles and Xbox boss, Phill Spencer, even noted that the company is not motivated to beat Sony but rather focus on gamers and getting the Xbox brand stronger.
Sony's Playstation 4 is already a clear winner in the console wars, but Microsoft still has time to catch up as recently announced integration with Windows 10 PCs and backward-compatibility with Xbox 360 might drive its sales up.
