Kingston has announced its newest SSDNow UV300 line of mainstream solid-state drives (SSDs) based on TLC NAND flash and Phison S10-class controller.

To be available in 120, 240 and 480GB capacities, the new Kingston SSDNow UV300 line of SSDs is aimed at mainstream users upgrading their notebooks, Ultrabooks or PCs. The new SSDNow UV300 line is based on a standard 2.5-inch 5mm-thick form-factor and ships with 7mm and 9.5mm spacers.

As noted, the SSDNow UV300 SSD lineup is based on TLC NAND flash memory and Phison S10-class controller. The sequential performance varies depending on the capacity but reaches up to 550MB/s for read and up to 510MB/s for write. The 4K random read performance goes up to 81,000 IOPS on the 240GB and 480GB versions and up to 64,000 IOPS on the 120GB version. The 4K random write performance is quite low and set at 12,000 for the 120GB, 18,000 for the 240GB and 25,000 IOPS for the 480GB version, mostly due to the use of TLC NAND.

The endurance (TBW) is rated at 64TB, 128TB and 256TB for 120, 240 and 480GB versions.

Unfortunately, Kingston did not reveal any details regarding the precise availability date or the price and it will certainly have a hard time convincing users to go for its value series after the issues with the original V300 series.
