Toshiba has announced two new SSDs aimed at consumer market, the Toshiba Q300 and Toshiba Q300 Pro SSDs.
Based on Toshiba controllers and Toshiba made NAND, the new SSDs will be aimed at different parts of the consumer market, depending on the needs.
The Toshiba Q300 SSD is based on Toshiba's own TC358790 controller paired up with Toshiba TLC NAND. it has an endurance rating of 0.23 WPD (writes-per-day) for three years and will be available in 120, 240, 480 and 960GB capacities. It has SATA interface and offers 550MB/s of sequential read and 530MB/s of sequential write performance while 4K random performance is at up to 87k IOPS read and up to 83k IOPS for write. It will feature SLC caching and have power consumption of 5.1W under load and 1.1W in idle.
The Toshiba Q300 Pro on the other hand is more oriented on read workloads as it features MLC NAND flash and also a lower power consumption, making it suitable for mobile and other power-efficient usage scenarios. It uses Toshiba TC58NC1000 controller and will be available in 128, 256 and 512GB capacities. The sequential performance of the Q300 Pro is set at 550MB/s for read and 520MB/s for write while random 4K performance is at up to 92k IOPS for read and up to 63K for write.
The Q300 Pro has an endurance rating of about 0.34 WPD for five years, also features SLC caching but comes with QSBC Error Correction feature as well. The power consumption on the Q300 Pro SSD is set at 3.3W under load and 125mW in idle.
The Toshiba Q300 SSD should be shipping now with a price set at US $99.99 for the 120GB version, US $159.99 for the 240GB, US $309.99 for the 480GB version and US $449.99 for the 960GB version. The Toshiba Q300 Pro on the other should be available later this month with a price set at US $124.99 for the 128GB version, US $199.99 for the 256GB version and US $389.99 for the 512GB version.
