ASUS has unveiled yet another gaming oriented monitor that will feature a 27-inch TN-panel with 2560x1440 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate and support for AMD FreeSync, the ASUS MG278Q.
As it is based on a TN-panel, the ASUS MG278Q is mostly focused on gamers with low 1ms response time and high 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports AMD's FreeSync technology which uses Adaptive Sync feature via DisplayPort 1.2a port in order to synchronize frame rate with the refresh rate and thus prevent stuttering and image tearing.
The full specification list include 350cd/m² of maximum brightness, low 1ms gray to gray response time, 100,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, 170°(H) / 160°(V) viewing angles and up to 144Hz refresh rate. It also comes with DisplayPort 1.2a, two HDMI and one dual-link DVI inputs as well as USB 3.0 hub and two 2W speakers.
The integrated stand allows height, swivel, tilt and pivot adjustments, and it also comes with few ASUS-exclusive features such as GameVisual, GamePlus and Eye Care Technology.
ASUS has already launched a similar monitor, the ASUS MG279Q, which uses IPS-panel and thus has wider viewing angles and better color depth, but higher response time as well.
According to ASUS, the new MG278Q will be available in the US, Europe and Asia in early September. Unfortunately, ASUS did not reveal any details regarding the price but similar monitors have been available for around US $500 to $600.
