Toshiba has announced its latest addition to the MC04 HDD series that will now include 6TB model.

Previously available in 2TB, 3TB, 4TB and 5TB versions, the Toshiba MC04 HDD series is aimed at high-capacity enterprise applications like bulk data storage systems, servers supporting cloud-based applications and scale-out workloads.

Based on a standard 3.5-inch form-factor, the MC04 series spins at 7200 RPM and is based on a standard SATA 6Gbps interface. The 6TB version of the Toshiba MC04 HDD series, is based on five platters and maintains the same power consumption as the 5TB model.

The Toshiba MC04 6TB model is rated for a 180 TB workload per year, has a MTBF rating of 800,000 hours and uses 512e advanced format sector technology. The sustained data transfer performance of 170MB/s with average latency of 4.17ms. The power consumption is rated at 11.3W during read/write and 6.0W in idle.

According to Toshiba, new 6TB version of the MC04 HDD series should be available in August. Unfortunately, Toshiba did not reveal any details regarding the price.
