Apple announces 100 billion downloads at App Store

Having more that 1.5 million apps

During its WWDC 2015 keynote, Apple CEO, Tim Cook, announced that Apple's App Store has hit a new milestone of 100 billion app downloads, with over 25 billion downloads in last 12 months.

Since Apple's App Store launched back in mid-2008, this is quite an achievement, especially considering that it took almost four years for App Store to hit 25 billion app downloads milestone. Currently, Apple App Store has over 1.5 million apps and while some might not like the way Apple deals with developers and apps, it appears to be working.

According to the latest results, Google's Android Play Store reached 1.5 million apps earlier last year and it is a tight race between Google and Apple on app store front.
