Leaked AMD roadmap shows 2016 is year of Zen

14nm manufacturing process and Zen architecture

According to the newest AMD roadmap leaked online, it appears that AMD's desktop and mobile lineup will be focused on the new Zen architecture and 14nm manufacturing process in 2016.

When it comes to desktop market, performance segment of the desktop lineup will be represented by 14nm Summit Ridge CPU with up to 8 Zen CPU cores on FM3 socket. The mainstream and performance AiO market will use Bristol Ridge APUs with up to 4 Zen CPU cores, next-generation GCN graphics with full HSA 1.0 support and AMD True Audio, also running on the same FM3 socket.

The essential and SFF market will use Basilisk APUs with up to 2 Zen CPU cores and the same next-generation GCN graphics part but on FT4 BGA socket.

It is quite interesting that desktop roadmap does not show enthusiast lineup and it appears that FX CPUs on AM3+ socket will be replaced by Summit Ridge CPU on FM3 socket.

When it comes to mobile market, both performance and mainstream market will use Bristol Ridge APUs on FP4 BGA socket and TDP rating of 15-35W. Part of mainstream and low-power lineup will be based on the Basilisk APU with TDP ranging from 5 to 15W, on the same FT4 BGA socket while ultra low-power will be reserved for Styx APU with up to 2 K12 CPU cores with average SDP of 2W. AMD Styx APU, will replace AMD's 20nm Amur APUs based on up to 4 ARM Cortex A57 cores which is expected later this year.

AMD's roadmap is quite interesting but we are also interested in the enthusiast part of the desktop market, or the lack of it when it comes to AMD.
