The recent report, which suggested that AMD Fiji XT based Radeon R9 390X flagship graphics card could feature 8GB of High Bandwidth Memory after all, also contained some information regarding AMD's rumored dual-GPU Fiji VR graphics card, which is apparently still in early stages.
According to the same report from
Bitsandchips.it, which suggested that AMD's Radeon R9 390X will use Dual Link Interposer technology in order to squeeze in 8GB of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), also sheds some information regarding the rumored dual GPU Fiji VR graphics card, which is apparently in its early "drawing board stages" and will not be announced during Computex 2015 show.
Earlier reports suggested that AMD is working on two separate graphics cards, single GPU Fiji XT based Radeon R9 390X and the dual-GPU Radeon R9 395X2, also known as the Fiji VR. While there were no precise details regarding that dual GPU Fiji VR graphics card, other than it will be optimized and aimed at Virtual Reality gaming, it appears that same graphics card is still in its early stages, and will not be ready for Computex 2015.
AMD has recently unveiled its Liquid VR slide Affinity Multi GPU technology, which actually needs two GPUs for asynchronous rendering and allow VR applications to get improved frame rates by using two GPUs.
According to our sources, AMD might announced the Radeon R9 390X around Computex 2015 show but it is highly unlikely that it will be available before end of June. As far as the dual GPU Fiji VR is concerned, only time will tell and we are sure we will hear more information as soon as AMD officially announces the Fiji XT GPU.
