According to Milestone, a developer behind the new RIDE game, Microsoft's upcoming DirectX 12 API will bring slight boost for Xbox One console but the PC platform will have major boost and benefit the most from the new API.
In an interview with
Gamingbolt site, game’s director Andrea Basilio said that “We haven’t had the time to get deep into it yet, but there are some upcoming events we’re going to participate that will show some of the potential of it. It should be noted that the custom DX11 API of Xbox One partly incorporate some future DX12 features already, and they’re mostly performance related."
"“So what we expect is a slight benefit for Xbox One, and some major performance boosts on PC hardware, making the overall development pipeline more similar and tighter," he added.
We recently had a chance to see some glimpses of performance improvements that DirectX 12 will bring to PC and it does not come as a surprise that DirectX 12 will bring a new level of performance on the PC platform. While Xbox One will most likely have certain improvements, it is the PC that will see major improvements. Basilio also added that while current DirectX 11 APU on the Xbox One does incorporate some DirectX 12 features, it is still not fully enabled and we have yet to see the full potential of DirectX 12.
Hopefully E3 2015 will bring plenty of updates regarding DirectX 12 and we certainly can't wait to see what kind of games can we expect once it launches with Microsoft's Windows 10 and once developers start releasing first games that fully support it.
