While it has just launched its flagship GTX Titan X graphics card based on GM200 Maxwell GPU, Nvidia is apparently preparing the GTX 980 Ti based on the same GPU for summer.
According to the latest set of rumors, the new upcoming graphics card could be either named the GTX 980 Ti or the GTX 990 in order to differentiate it from the GM204 based GTX 980. According to SweClockers, Nvidia should follow the standard naming scheme and call the upcoming graphics card the GTX 980 Ti. It should come with a fully enabled GM200 Maxwell GPU with 3072 CUDA cores and 384-bit memory interface but pack 6GB of GDDR5 memory.
The same report also suggest that Nvidia might allow its Add-In-Card (AIC) partners to come up with custom-designs from day one so that would bring some interesting high-end cooling solutions as well and even faster clock speeds compared to the GTX Titan X.
The Nvidia GTX 980 Ti should be ready in time to compete with AMD's upcoming High Bandwidth Memory equipped R9 390X.
