Crytek ready for virtual reality

Exploring VR possibilities

Crytek, a developer behind Crysis, is apparently ready for virtual reality and is currently exploring virtual reality in CryEngine.

In an interview with Gamespot, Crytek's managing director Faruk Yerli talked about virtual reality (VR) and challenges coming with it. According to Yerli, Crytek is currently exploring VR and wants to show the world true VR experience that can only come from CryEngine. Yerli also notes that VR will still be something for enthusiasts while later going mainstream.

Yerli also talked a bit about challenges that VR brings including physical limitations regarding gameplay as well as motion sickness that can sometime happen with VR. Yerli notes that Crytek managed to find some solutions for those problems and Crytek's creative director Frank Vitz said that their engine already can use AMD's LiquidVR technology, which should give it lower latency across multiple GPUs.

Crytek and its CryEngine has been behind some of the most impressive games around and we can't wait for it to get into virtual reality as well.
