We already had a chance to see ASUS' compact Republic of Gamers (ROG) GR8 system but now, with the official announcement from Valve that Steam Machines are coming in November, ASUS has decided to unveil its own Steam Machine based on the same case, the ROG GR8S.
Being the size of an average modern console like the Xbox One, or 2.5L case, ASUS decided to go with its own and recognizable ROG design with black and red color scheme.
As far as the specifications go, ASUS decided to equip the new ROG GR8S system with Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, Nvidia's Geforce GTX 900 series Maxwell graphics cards, up to 16GB of memory, various storage options with SSD and HDD options, Intel Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac WiFi and ROG SupremeFX 5.1 HD audio.
ASUS did not reveal any specific details regarding those CPU and GPU options but as Steam Machines will be available in November, ASUS is probably using that time to finalize specifications. The ASUS ROG GR8S will start at US $699 and is currently
listed at the Steam Store.
