Valve's press conference at Game Developers Conference (GDC 2015) which just kicked off in San Francisco is probably the most anticipated event, especially considering Valve's recent push into virtual reality (VR), recent rumors regarding Half Life 3 as well as earlier unveiled Steam Machines and Valve's push at living room gaming. Well, Valve did not disappoint as there are plenty of new information.
According to what is coming from GDC 2015, Valve is making a pretty big push for living room gaming and while we already knew about Steam Machines and Steam Controller, Valve has also announced the new Steam Link, a streaming device that will connect multiple systems and stream games.
According to early details and pictures, the Steam Link will feature two USB ports, HDMI and Ethernet port and will be able, at least according to Valve, to stream games at 1080p resolution, 60Hz and at low latency, all as long as it is connected to the same network.
Valve has also shed more details on its entire living-room lineup, saying that Steam Machines as well as Steam Controller and the new Steam Link should all be available in November, or just in time for 2015 holiday shopping season. While Steam Controller and Steam Link will cost US $49.99, various reports suggest that Steam Machines, from usual suspects like Alienware, Falcon Northwest and others will be priced starting "at the same price point as game consoles, [but] with higher performance."
Valve was also quite keen to note that Epic Games should be running Unreal Tournament in 4K resolution on the Falcon Northwest Steam Machine during GDC 2015.
