Nvidia blocks overclocking on GTX 900M GPUs

No more overclocking on mobile GPUs

According to a post over at Nvidia's GeForce forums, it appears the company disabled overclocking on GeForce GTX 900M series mobiles GPUs. At least it seems that since the GeForce R347 drivers are out these chips can't be overclocked anymore.

While many users were quite happy with the fact that they can push some more performance out of their GTX 900M mobile series GPUs, it appears that this feature was enabled by accident. At least that's what it looks like if you check out what Nvidia's posted over at GeForce forums. So far the company officially disabled overclocking for mobile GPUs via their latest drivers.

Nvidia and AMD usually allow overclocking and in some cases, they even encourage users push their GPUs to a certain degree. These days it looks like Nvidia is changing its view, at least when it comes to their Geforce GTX 900M mobile GPUs.

Should you be one of the customers, who was overclocking a GTX 900M mobile GPU, then you will notice that after the installation of the latest GeForce 347.29 drivers, clock frequencies have been reset to stock values. Despite the fact that some users are really upset about this NVIDIA appears to not change their mind.
