According to the latest report, Intel is currently debating the existence of its next-generation Broadwell-K CPUs for desktop market, which leads to possibility that these might not show up at all.
While we have already heard such rumors, which are well founded considering that Intel expects its Skylake-K CPUs to be ready in 2H 2015, which is pretty much the same time frame to which Broadwell-K has been delayed, according to recent reports. There have also been quite a few rumors that Broadwell-K is experiencing overheating and TDP problems, which might be yet another reason for Intel to reconsider the launch. While most enthusiasts, that go after "K-series" CPUs for overclocking, do not actually care about the TDP, it still provides a lot of problems for Intel when it comes to standard customers.
Currently,
Italian site Bitsandchips.it, which has a pretty good record with rumors, is reporting that Intel's executives are currently discussing the possibility to completely cancel the Broadwell-K lineup. Skylake-S should be ready soon and Intel could easily pull Skylake-K chips forward and completely skip the Broadwell-K.
One thing that still remains unclear is the future of Broadwell-E HEDT platform, and while these are not aimed at mass market, these are still good marketing chips for Intel.
