Sapphire unveils a new R9 290X with 8GB of memory

With Tri-X cooler

Following the great success of the R9 290X Vapor X with 8GB of vRAM, Sapphire has unveiled a new R9 290X graphics card with the same amount of video memory, the R9 290X Tri-X, featuring the famous triple fan cooler by Sapphire.

The new Sapphire R9 290X 8GB Tri-X is based on a standard PCB that we have already seen on other Sapphire models, but it features 8GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5.5GHz, with a 512-bit memory interface to ensure the best bandwidth possible.

Thanks to the 6-phase VRM, this graphics card can deliver great performance with a 240W TDP, powered by two PCIe 8-pin PCI-Express connectors. The GPU base clock is 1020MHz, which is more than enough for the Tri-X cooler to handle, thanks to its great cooling power.

This graphics card is being produced as we speak, so it is going to be available pretty soon through the retail and e-tail channels usually used by Sapphire.
