Samsung bringing FreeSync UHD monitors in March 2015

In various sizes

During its Future of Compute event held in Singapore, AMD revealed some new details regarding the future of AMD FreeSync technology, announcing that Samsung currently plans to launch its first FreeSync compatible monitors in March next year.

Samsung is definitely one of the biggest monitor manufacturer in the world and it is clearly a big win for AMD to have them on board for FreeSync Technology. In case you missed it earlier, the FreeSync was unveiled back at CES 2014 and is AMD's answer to Nvidia G-Sync technology, and pretty much adjusts the refresh rate of the monitor to match the fram rate of the game, which fixes screen tearing.

According to the announcement, Samsung will have two Freesync-ready monitors in March, the UD590 and the UE850. Both will be available in various sizes, including 23.6-inch and 28-inch for the UD590 and 23.6-, 27- and 31.5-inch for the UE850. While Samsung did not reveal any specific details regarding these two monitors, it did note that these will be UHD resolution screens, which means 3840x2160.

During that same event, AMD's Chief Gaming Officer, Richard Huddy, also noted that there should be a couple of FreeSync monitors on market shelves as early as December.

Both AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync have their advantages and flaws and by the time we have them both on the market shelves, you will simply have to pick a monitor depending on which GPU are you currently using.
