AMD has finally given a green light to its AIB partners to start making and selling an 8GB version of the Radeon R9 290X graphics card, and one of the first spotted R9 290X 8GB versions comes from XFX.
Spotted by Videocardz.com, the 8GB version of the R9 290X should not be far from the original version and in XFX's case, features a custom Ghost2 cooler with two fans and a glowing XFX logo. While such 8GB Radeon R9 290X graphics cards should not be popular with FullHD gamers, those looking to game on higher resolutions such as 4K/UHD, will definitely see some performance improvement, especially in multi-GPU configurations.
XFX will not be the only partner as according to recent rumors, Sapphire, MSI and Powercolor will have such versions as well.
Unfortunately, the price of 8GB Radeon R9 290X version is still unknown but it should not be long before we see those in retail/e-tail.
