Although we knew that these were coming soon, Galax, a new brand formed by Galaxy and KFA2, has launched its new and fully custom Geforce GTX 980 Hall of Fame (HOF) and Geforce GTX 970 Hall of Fame (HOF) graphics cards.
Based on Nvidia's well known GM204 Maxwell GPU with 2048 and 1664 CUDA cores, both
the Galax GTX 980 Hall of Fame and the GTX 970 Hall of Fame graphics cards will feature the recognizable custom white PCB with better VRM, very high factory overclock and a custom triple-fan cooling solution with brushed metal backplate.
All of these aforementioned features allowed Galax to push the frequencies to a rather impressive level so the Geforce GTX 980 HOF will work at 1304MHz base GPU clock, 1418MHz for the GPU Boost clock while 4GB of GDDR5 memory, paired up with a 256-bit memory interface, end up clocked at 1753MHz.
The Galax GTX 970 HOF works at 1216MHz for the GPU base, 1380MHz for the GPU Boost clocks while it also comes with the same 4GB of memory clocked at 1753MHz.
As noted, both graphics cards are based on a custom white PCB with beefed up 8+2-phase VRM drawing power from two 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors. Galax is also promising a high overclocking potential with 1.5GHz on air and 2.1GHz on LN2. The rest of the features include dual-BIOS, Hyper-Boost technology which pushes both the voltage and the fan speed to a maximum via simple push of a button located on the I/O panel.
As noted earlier, both new GM204 Maxwell based Hall of Fame graphics cards come with the same custom triple-fan cooler. It features two 80mm and one 90mm fan, seven nickel-plated copper heatpipes connected to a rather hefty heatsink.
Unfortunately, Galax did not reveal any details regarding the actual availability date or the price of these two new Hall of Fame graphics cards, but last we heard, Galax will offer some rather aggressive pricing in order to promote the brand.
