While currently only Sapphire has an exclusive right to produce 8GB version of AMD Radeon R9 290X, it appears that AMD will give a few more AIBs the privilege to come up with a similar model, including Powercolor and Club 3D.
AMD's move to allow more AIB partners to make an 8GB version of the R9 290X most likely comes as result of pressure from the competition, precisely Nvidia's GTX 980 graphics card.
According to a
report from Videocardz.com, TuL corporation, which supplies graphics cards for Powercolor and Club 3D, will produce such graphics cards so eventually, or precisely next month, we should see more R9 290X 8GB graphics cards on the market.
We doubt that there will be some serious change to the graphics card but we will possibly see some decent factory-overclocked versions, from both Club 3D as well as Powercolor. Hopefully, we will also see an 8GB PCS+ version of the R9 290X from Powercolor. In case you missed it earlier, the R9 290X is based on AMD's Hawaii GPU with 2816 Stream Processors, 176 TMUs and 64 ROPs as well as a 512-bit memory interface.
Unfortunately, this also pretty much confirms that AMD might not launch any new graphics cards for this holiday shopping season.
