Samsungs first curved monitor is now finally available, and consumers will finally be able to get their hands on the Samsung SC590C which was unveiled earlier this year at IFA 2014 show.
While stuck at 1920x1080 resolution, which is definitely not ideal on a 27-inch surface and featuring curved VA panel (4000R curve), the Samsung SD590C comes with a rather "affordable" price of US $429.99 and will be available for users in North America. According to Samsung, the SD590C is designed as "the ultimate entertainment display" and should offer wider field of view compared to traditional flat 27-inch monitors due to the fact that, according to Samsung, "display’s edges are physically closer to the user’s eyes and match their natural curve, users don’t need to shift focus to see the ends of the screen."
Samsung also claims that the new monitor is ideal for serious gamers (although we would honestly recommend a higher resolution on a 27-inch panel) and office workers who spend extended hours in front of a computer.
The rest of the specifications of the Samsung SD590C are pretty much standard and feature 350cd/m2 of brightness, 3000:1 contrast ration, 178°/178° viewing angle, 4ms (G2G) response, 60Hz refresh rate, D-Sub, HDMI and DisplayPort inputs as well as integrated stereo speakers. The SD590C also comes with some gaming optimizations including the "Game Mode" which sets a color profile as well as sound profile.
As noted, the Samsung SD590C should be available in the US as of 1st October with an MSRP of US $429.99.
