Lenovo is slowly buying many IBM division that would be lost otherwise. Starting from 1st October the deal will be effective, as long as the US Government doesn’t find a way to stop it.
In the recent past, Lenovo acquired the desktop division from IBM, and that’s why you can still find the Thinkpad on the market, bearing the Lenovo logo, instead of the IBM’s. Furthermore, the company acquired the ThinkServer division and many other solutions for the enterprise market.
The deal, for about 2.1 billion US dollars, allows the chinese firm to acquire the entire x86 Server IBM division, along with all the employees. The chief of the department, Adalion Sanchez, is keeping is job under a new boss and a new team.
Despite the fact that the US Government is not pleased with this deal, the BladeCenter and the FlexSystems divisions from IBM are also becoming part of the Lenovo Group, which will be able to use american technology for its server market.
