MSI's GTX 980 Gaming 4G hits 1600/2200MHz in our lab

All on its own custom Twin Frozr cooler

We already heard that MSI's GTX 980 Gaming 4G graphics card is a great overclocker but we had our doubts until we see it in our lab where we managed to push it to a rather impressive 1600/2200MHz all with Twin Frozr cooler.

To be precise, we managed to hit 1589.9MHz for the GPU and 2197.8MHz for memory, all on maximum settable voltage with default BIOS. This was enough to get us 10596 in 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme benchmark, which is not a bad score at all.

Back when we talked to MSI about the fact that the company will skip the Lightning, which is reserved for only the fastest graphics cards, we were told that we will be quite surprised with the GTX 980 Gaming 4G, which is, according to MSI, about 70 percent Lightning ready.

We also prepared an extensive image gallery showing the graphics card in all its glory and our full review should follow up soon so stay tuned.
