Following the launch of its new Radeon R9 285 Tonga Pro based mainstream graphics card, AMD has also announced a promotional retailer-specific deal which cuts down the flagship Radeon R9 295 X2 dual-GPU graphics card from earlier US $1,499, down to a rather more reasonable US $999.
According to AMD which used an opportunity to take a stab at Nvidia's recent Geforce Titan Z price cut, the new promotion will be available to all and not just OEMs. The Radeon R9 295 X2 will still ship with Never Settle promotional package which gives you access to over a dozen of free games.
In case you missed it back when it was announced, the Radeon R9 295X2 features two fully enabled 28nm Hawaii GPUs, same ones that were behind the flagship single-GPU Radeon R9 290X graphics card. Each of the GPUs pack 2816 Stream Processors, 176 TMUs, 64 ROPs and each GPU is connected via 512-bit wide memory interface to 4GB of GDDR5 memory. The GPUs are interconnected via PLX PEX8747 PCI-Express 3.0 x48 bridge chip.
It also comes with a special hybrid liquid+air cooler, which is co-developed with Asetek and features a 120mm radiator for GPU cooler while center placed fan takes care of the memory, VRM and the PLX bridge chip.
Unfortunately, AMD has not reveal any details regarding which of the retailers will be a part of this promotional deal but we are sure that we will hear more and that there will be quite a few big European and the USA based retailers/e-tailers on the list.
