While ASUS will probably launch quite a few Intel X99 Express chipset based motherboards, there will be a few that will stand out, including the flagship ASUS ROG Rampage V Extreme motherboard.
Based on the same Intel X99 Express chipset and featuring support for Intel's Core i7-5000 series Haswell-E HEDT processors, the Rampage V Extreme will be a part of ASUS' well known Republic of Gamers brand, which means that it will feature some gamer-oriented features.
The specification and feature lists starts off with a high-current 8-phase CPU VRM that draws its power from 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS and 4-pin ATX power connectors, it feature eight DDR4 DIMM memory slots as well as five PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. Storage wise, it comes with twelve SATA 6Gbps ports, SATA-Express power and an M.2 PCIe 2.0 x4 slot.
The rest of the features include SupremeFX 2014 audio chip, Intel Gigabit Ethernet, integrated 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, a total of fourteen USB 3.0 ports, couple of USB 2.0 ports and all the usual Republic of Gamers features that you would expect on a high-end flagship motherboard.
As expected, the ASUS Rampage V Extreme sticks to recognizable ROG red on black color scheme and is bundled with ASUS' ROG OC Panel.
Unfortunately, we are still missing the price for this flagship motherboard but we guess we will hear more quite soon.
