LG reports record smartphone shipments for Q2 2014

Sells 14.5 million smartphones

It appears that LG's aggressive push into smartphone market has certainly paid off as according to the company's financial results for the Q2 2014, it managed to sell 14.5 million smartphones, a new record for the company.

According to the LG Q2 financial report, company managed to sell a rather impressive 14.5 million smartphones and one third are LTE-enabled. This result is an increase of 20 percent compared to the same period last year, 17 percent increase compared to the Q1 2014 and also a new record for LG.

These results also added up to US $3.51 billion in revenue from the mobile devices division and US $82.4 million in profit, which is the first in last three quarters.

Most of these results come from LG's latest LG G3 flagship smartphone and its initial popularity in the Korean market. The company also noted that it plans to continue its global rollout of the LG G3 smartphone in the second half of this year and also include variations of the LG G3.

LG's upcoming Q3 results should not be bad either as the LG G3 has only just picked up in global sales and with the recent introduction of the LG G3 Beat/LG G3s, a smaller, cheaper and less powerful version of the smartphone, the future result should be even better.
