While Intel's new HEDT (High-End Desktop) Haswell-E CPUs are not expected to launch until later this year, one of the US retailers have apparently jumped the gun and listed three parts for pre-order and at much higher price than expected.
Spotted by the guys over at CPU-World, pre-orders for Haswell-E appeared at Shopblt.com, a US based retailer which listed three Haswell-E part, the Core i7-5960X, Core i7-5930K and the Core i7-5820K.
While most earlier reports suggested that the upcoming Haswell-E CPUs will launch with price tags that are the same as those of the Ivy Bridge-E CPUs it appears that these earlier pre-order listings are looking to score a slight premium.
The cheapest listed is the six-core 3.3GHz clocked Core i7-5820K which is priced at US $426, or about US $80 more when compared to the Ivy Bridge-E Core i7-4820K counterpart. The next in line ist he Core i7-5930K, priced at US $632, which is closer to the price of the Ivy Bridge-E Core i7-4930K, but still around US $50 more expensive. The last but not the least is the flagship eight-core with 20MB L3 cache, the Core i7-5960X. While Intel usually priced its top of the line HEDT Core i7 CPUs at US $999, the Shopblt.com retailer is asking US $1108 for it, which is over US $100 more.
Now either Intel will actually raise the price of its new Haswell-E based HEDT CPUs or the retailer in question is simply trying to score some extra cash on early pre-orders. Hopefully we will know sooner rather than later when Intel officially launched its new Haswell-E HEDT platform.
