Star Citizen hits US $48 million

Brings Retaliator ship

Back when Star Citizen crowd-funding started, no one, including us and most likely the great Chris Roberts, did not even dream that the game could raise that amount of money as it has currently hit US $48 million mark.

The new milestone has unlocked the user-voted "Retaliator" bomber, which can currently be seen in pictures over at Roberts Space Industries web site and will eventually bring the ship commercial, similar to what we have seen earlier with the 2944 Aurora space ship. We also got a new crowd-funding goal which is set at US $49 million and will bring Xi’An Space Plant, a very famous Xi’An plant indigenous to Eealus III that blossoms for one night every one hundred years.

Cloud Imperium and Chris Roberts also noted that when and if the US $50 million goal is reached, will add "Alien Languages" to the game. "We will work with real-world linguists to create distinctive and realistic alien languages for Star Citizen’s three biggest alien races, the Vanduul, the Xi’An and the Banu," writes Chris Roberts in the latest crowd-funding update. "No universal translators, no garbled animal noises: Star Citizen’s aliens will be speaking their own authentic languages!"

The Star Citizen is shaping up to probably become the most anticipated and complex game with highest crowd-funding score and we doubt that any game will match in anytime soon.
