MediaTek has now officially announced its newest MT6795 SoC, a first true 64-bit octa-core 4G LTE SoC with support for 2K displays.
The new Mediatek MT6795 SoC is clocked at 2.2GHz and features Mediatek's CorePilot technology which takes care of the multi-processor performance and thermal controls well as support for dual-channel LPDDR3 memory of up to 933MHz. As it is obvious from the specifications, the MT6795 SoC is aimed at high-end Android devices which is why it has support for 2K 2560x1600 display support with 120Hz mobile display with ClearMotion and Response Time Enhancement Technology.
The rather interesting new features of the MT6795 is its support for 480 frames per second Full HD Super-Slow Motion videos which will be running at 1/16 speed when played at 30fps. The chipset also can record and playback 4K Ultra HD videos while using less power, according to Mediatek.
As far as the connectivity is concerned, the MT6795 has support for Rel. 9, cat 4 FDD and TDD LTE (150Mbps/50Mbps) as well as standard 2G/3G, support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, FM, GPS, Glonass, Beidou, ANT+ and multi-mode wireless changing support via Mediatek's companion multi-mode wireless power receiver IC.
In addition to the MT6795, Mediatek has also unveiled two other 64-bit chipset, the MT6752 aimed at mid-range devices and the MT6732 aimed at entry-level smartphones. Mediatek expects first smartphones based on the MT6795 to be commercially available by the end of this year.
