SanDisk to buy Fusion-io

1.1 Billion USD

Fusion-io have been able to establish a solid position in the market for enterprise SSDs over the past few years. Meanwhile it looks like SanDisk is about to strengthen its position by announcing the buyout of Fusion-io.

Buying Fusion-io means that SanDisk is going to add a substantial amount of know-how to their portfolio. Other than that the company is about to add specific solutions to accelerate enterprise storage solutions.

It looks like SanDisk wants to have it's slice of the cake when it comes to the enterprise SSD business. Just a few weeks ago the company announced a few high capacity SSDs with SAS Interface and buying Fusion-io, which specialised on high-performance PCI-Express SSDs will broaden SanDisks market position.

Fusion-io might be rather happy about the announced buy-out, since the company was struggling financially. It also appears that 1.1 Billion USD is going to be a decent price for the company.
