While it has recently released its new and shiny
850 Pro solid state drive based on 3D V-NAND flash technology, most of the budget-oriented consumer market is actually waiting for the
850 EVO version which should not only have a much lower price per Gigabyte but also offer a decent performance.
According to the leaked marketing material,
spotted by Expreview.com, the Samsung
850 EVO could launch quite soon. In case you missed earlier reports, the
850 EVO is expected to be based on Samsung's 3-bit (TLC) 3D V-NAND flash memory paired up with an updated Samsung triple-core controller.
Unfortunately, the leaked marketing material did not reveal any details regarding the capacities of the
850 EVO or, more importantly, any performance figures.
Hopefully, the Samsung
850 EVO will have a similar 10-year warranty as the
850 Pro and also offer decent performance and most likely offer great price/performance ratio.
