MSI announces Geforce GTX 660 Gaming series

With and without factory overclock

In order to flood the sub US $200 market with a few more SKUs, MSI has launched a pair of Gaming Series graphics cards based on the GTX 660 GPU. Paired up with a custom PCB, GK106 GPU and MSI's own TwinFrozr IV cooler, the Geforce GTX 660 Gaming series will certainly has its advantages.

As it was the case with previous graphics card series from MSI, this one will also be available in two versions, with and without the factory-overclock. The MSI Geforce GTX 660 OC Edition Gaming series one will work at 1033MHz base, 1098MHz Boost as well as 6.0GHz for 2GB of GDDR5 memory while the standard one will work at 980MHz base and 1033MHz Boost clocks, while memory also remains at reference 6.0Ghz.

In case you missed it earlier, the 28nm GK106 GPU packs 960 CUDA cores, 80 TMUs, 24 ROPs while memory is paired up with a 192-bit memory interface. The MSI TwinFrozr IV cooler, in black and red color Gaming Series scheme will certainly have not trouble to cope with temperatures and do a better job when compared to reference design.

Unfortunately, MSI did not shed any details regarding the actual availability or the price of the new GTX 660 Gaming series.
