ASUS Republic of Gamers Z270 lineup detailed

Entire ASUS Z270 lineup leaked

While Intel's 200-series chipset motherboards probably won't be available before January, when they are expected to launch alongside Intel's new Kaby Lake CPUs, today we get a chance to check out ASUS' complete Z270 lineup, including motherboards that will carry the Republic of Gamers badge.

Leaked by Wccftech.com, the complete ASUS Z270 lineup of high-end motherboards will include plenty of models from the ROG Maximus, STRIX and TUF motherboard series as well as a few models that will be a part of the standard lineup.

The high-end gamer-oriented Republic of Gamers (ROG) Maximus lineup has reached its IX generation and we currently have details for three motherboards, the Maximus IX Formula, the Maximus IX Code and the Maximus IX Hero.

The ASUS ROG Maximus IX Formula is obviously aimed at enthusiasts and high-end gamers. Based on standard ATX form-factor, it has a 8+2+2-phase digital VRM with 10K black metallic capacitors, MicroFine Alloy Chokes, NexFET PW (Power) block MOSFET and DIGI+ Power Control Utility as well as the new ASUS Extreme Engine Digi+ technology, which should bring additional CPU stability and overclocking. The VRM draws power from a combination of a standard 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS 12V connectors.

The motherboard features four DDR4 DIMM slots with support for up to 64GB of DDR4-4333 (OC) memory, features three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (x16/x8/x4) slots and three PCI-Express 3.0 x1. The two main PCIe 3.0 x16 slots feature a metallic armor (SafeSlots) which should provided it with extra durability.

The specification and feature list is quite extensive but most importantly it comes with two M.2 socket 3 ports, both PCIe 3.0 x4, six SATA 6Gbps ports, plenty of USB 3.1 and 3.0 ports, including USB 3.1 Type-C port, integrated 802.11ac WiFi dual-band and Intel I219-V Gigabit Ethernet, SupremeFX S1220 codec audio and a new special AURA RGB lighting with 3+2 independent on-board LED areas. It also uses ASUS' new CrossChill EK II cooling system.

The next in line is the ASUS ROG Maximus IX Code motherboard, which is pretty much a cheaper version of the Maximus IV Formula which lacks the new CrossChill EK II cooling system but has the same feature and specifications as well as the same 8+2+2-phase VRM.

The final motherboard in the ROG Maximus IX Z270 lineup is the ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero, which has a somewhat simpler design, lacks some features but should be also cheaper.

The ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero also lacks the new CrossChill EK II cooling system as well as the fancy armor over the PCB. The Maximus IX Hero also has a different PCB with M.2 slots at a different place as well as lacks the fancy 3+2-zone AURA RGB lighting but comes with AURA RGB headers. It also lacks the integrated 802.11ac WiFi but should be significantly cheaper than other ASUS ROG Z270 Maximus IX motherboards.

Unfortunately, the source did not mention any details regarding the price but we guess we will know more as we draw closer to the scheduled launch date at CES 2017 show in January.
