Nvidia raised a lot of eyebrows when it announced its Founder's Edition GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards but it appears that this is simply a new name for reference design graphics cards.
According to a report from Gamersnexus.net, the Founder's Edition GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards are simply what we usually knew as reference graphics cards.
According to the same report, the Founder's Edition graphics card are not specially binned, pre-overclocked or limited edition in any way, other than the fact that they will come with a new reference cooler with vapor chamber cooler, VRM blower fan and a backplate.
Nvidia simply wants to avoid competition with its aIC partners, so ASUS, EVGA, MSI and others will simply have a chance to enter the market with a lower price of US $600, although it will solely depends on the actual version as some highly overclocked and special edition versions will have a higher price.
The Founder's Edition of the GTX 1080 should launch on May 27th and custom versions from partners should be available shortly after the official launch date.
