ATI's R600 will consume over 250W!
ATI's highly anticipated next GPU will consume up to an incredible 250 W to work. This confirms the many reports that this will be the hottest chip ever. It is now confirmed being a 80 nanometer chip, not as some sources previously said 65 nanometer.
This means that the R600 will consume twice as much power, and probably will end up close to twice as warm as the Radeon X1950 XTX that consumes about 125W of power. TheINQ suggest that it will get much better performance then the current cards with a hefty sixty four pipelines.
