Corsair Dominator DDR4 up for pre-order

High frequencies and low voltages

After listing the new Crucial Ballistix DDR4 modules, Overclockers UK is the first e-tailer to list the new Corsair high performance memory, which is called Dominator DDR4. These modules are already up for order, with a few pieces in stock. If you want to be amongst the first to hold DDR4 in your hands, you better be quick!

The new Intel X99 Express chipset is just around the corner, and DDR4 modules are starting to get their space on the market. The new Corsair Dominator DDR4 needs a voltage of 1.2v, but we might see overclocked modules with 1.25/1.3v. In a few months, we might start to see the first modules with 1.10v or even 1.05v, once the technology gets better. These kind of voltages mean less heat, longer lifespan for the modules, and less power consumption. As far as density is concerned, there are 4GB and 8GB modules, and we might see 16GB modules pretty soon. This means that, with 8 DIMM slots, you could end up with 128GB of RAM, if the BIOS supports that.

These new modules will be available in a lot of different speeds: 1600MHz, 1866MHz, 2133MHz, 2400MHz, 2666MHz, 3200MHz, 4000MHz and even maybe 4266MHz. Of course every partner can work on their modules as they like, for example Corsair is offering 2800MHz modules which are most likely 2666Mhz modules which have been overclocked.

As far as prices are concerned, you can pre-order the new Corsair Dominator DDR4 16GB kit for 299£.
